Another Year, Come and Gone

Fri Jun 19, 2009, 12:34 AM
It's been another year, come and gone. Another birthday, and a milestone one at that. Money was tight this year (like I'm sure it is for many people), turning 40, and one day away from the 6th anniversary of my Dad's passing. In all honesty, I slept most of the day away. The rest of the day was spent thinking about missing family, and my own short-comings. I also drank half a bottle of 45 year old mescal (complete with 45 year old worm) that was given to me about 5 years ago. Not the best idea, ever. *tequila face*

Funny, I always told myself, "There will be plenty of time to...further my education...quit smoking...diet...etc., etc." Personal inventory is rough when the numbers don't add up. Luckily, my guy is the most loving and understanding man in the world. (Okay, maybe not "the" world, but in "my" world. *smiles*) Lots of hugs and little smooches, and he did the dishes for me. Even so, I was glad when the day was over.

Determined to treat the day after as a new day, I showered, dressed and went grocery shopping. After everything was squared away, there was a knock on the door. It was 3 of my guy's friends from work (recently my friends too), carrying in an unbelievable present for me. A brand new, custom-built computer! I didn't know whether to laugh, cry or faint dead away. They told me it was a group effort, from everyone in our little group of friends. Speechless just didn't begin to cover it. *grins*

So, cheers!

There is no pleasure in having nothing to do; the fun is in having lots to do and not doing it.

This work is amazing... Can these all be yours? and if so why are you not well known on this site yet?

Wear a bowler hat, carry an electric guitar and camera, and write with a quill and sloppy hand writing and you are on your way to being me...

Thank you very much for the comment. Yes,they are mine. :) Not sure why I'm unknown, but your comment brightened my day.
